Speaking and Short Course Presentations

Dr Pugh is available to speak or teach short courses for veterinary and owner groups. He is the Editor and major contributor to the text book Sheep and Goat Medicine  (WB Saunders Co, 2002), a co editor of the NRC for Sheep, Goats, Cervids, and New World Camelids (National Academies Press, 2006), a contributing author for the Merck Veterinary Manual (9th & 10th editions), and was the Director of the Auburn University Camelid Research and Teaching Program from 1991-2004.

 

He has held faculty positions at the University of Georgia (Assistant Professor) and Auburn University (Professor of  Large Animal Medicine), and was the owner of a multi-person large animal practice in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area for five years, and has been a consulting veterinarian for Fort Dodge Animal Health from 2004-2009. During his academic career he taught veterinary nutrition, lectured on reproductive medicine for horses and small ruminants, and was a clinician in Ambulatory medicine and Theriogenology. He is the recipient of five university and three national awards for teaching, and was the 2006 recipient of the University of Georgia’s AM Mills Award for contributions to Veterinary Medicine.

 

He frequently lectures on parasite control; nutrition - feeding, diet related disorders, & their treatment - prevention, herd/flock health programs, their implementation, and related issues; reproductive management, male and female fertility, pregnant female care, and topics related to maximizing individual and herd fertility; and topics to maximize the overall health of the individual and the herd/flock.
